This is a 6 minute medley of highlights from "Alice in Hamilton: A Patent Ethics Musical" — more at http://alice.franklininn.org — in which the Ben Franklin American Inn of Court combined legal ethics education with ten song parodies inspired by the hit musical Hamilton. Transformed by new lyrics and reimagined characters, the songs raise ethical issues for present-day patent practitioners (fact patterns in our CLE program). The songbook tells a story against a background of patent law arising from Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank (a 2014 Supreme Court patent case), with a dash of Alice in Wonderland. Between the songs, the ethical issues were explored in discussion segments. This is Franklin Inn's eighth theatrical CLE program, and third CLE musical — and because our kids led the way to Hamilton for many in our group, we included four of them (ages 11-14) in our cast.
