Student data is collected, shared, sold without parent knowledge or consent. Transparency about what data points are collected, who has access to them, the purpose for the data and the ability for parents to review, delete and consent to data being shared is key. ASK what data is collected and WHO it is shared with. Look for terms like digital badges, embedded competency based learning, social - emotional profiles, p-20 database (every child has a data profile: preschool to age 20). We need laws to regulate and protect the sharing of children's most personal, valuable information.
