On April 11, 1946, The defendant Ernst Kaltenbrunner, Chief of the Security Police and SD and Head of the Reich Security Main Office, was called to the stand by this counselor, Dr. Kurt Kauffmann. He started his testimony by saying that "I know the hatred of the world is directed against me; that I -particularly since Himmler, Mueller and Pohl are no longer alive- must here, alone, give an account to the world and the Tribunal."
In this excerpt form Court TV's ten hour documentary on the Nuremberg Trial, we see the cross-examination conducted by Colonel John Amen of the American Delegation. Amen confronted Kaltenbruner on a number of affidavits that he was at concentration camps and he denied knowledge and attendance. at death camps. He even denied his signature on orders from him.
