Sk8ology Deck Displays are the original floating gallery display skateboard hanger. Here company founder, Mark "Schmiddy" Schmid shows us how to hang your collectable skateboard deck using the Sk8ology Deck Display and it's simple one screw/drywall anchor installation.
STEP 1. Find a good location to hang your deck. Caution: If your wall is exposed to direct sunlight, the colors on your board may fade over time.
Step 2. Measure the height where you want to hang your deck Eye level is best. Note: 57″ represents the average human eye-height and is regularly used as a standard in many galleries and museums.
Now make a small mark using a pen or pencil.
Step 3. If you are not lucky enough to have a wall stud to screw into you’ll have to drill a hole to fit the wall anchor Caution: Be sure you are not drilling through any electrical wires or plumbing.
Step 4. Insert wall plastic wall anchor into hole and screw Deck Display onto the wall.
NOTE: If your board doesn’t fit on to the Black T-Nuts you will need to use the included 7/32” Drill Bit to drill out the truck holes. DON’T WORRY! The 7/32" drill bit just barely opens the holes, literally less than a 1mm, absolutely negligible. Will not affect your decks value or appearance in anyway whatsoever!
Step 5. There are two ways to hang your board on the Sk8ology Deck Display. Unlocked and locked.
If you want your board to be “Locked” onto the wall, simply remove the black T-Nuts from the Deck Display and slide the board onto the metal rods using the adjustment nuts to increase/decrease the distance of your deck from the wall. Thread the Black T-nuts onto the shafts making sure they are in the locked position (the thick part of T-Nut facing out). If you want your board in the unlocked position, the wide part of the T-Nut will face in.
