On November 4–6, 2015, the Charles Koch Institute hosted “Advancing Justice: An Agenda for Human Dignity &Public Safety” in New Orleans.
During the breakout “Justice Delivered: Protecting Liberty and Gideon’s Legacy,” panelists explained how the public defense system relates to the rest of the problems throughout the United States criminal justice system. In addition to shedding light on the challenges public defenders face, they described possible solutions to secure the decades-long, unfulfilled promise of Gideon v. Wainwright.
