Solotheatre artist Heather Woodbury presents the first glimpse of her projected 12-hour opus AS THE GLOBE WARMS during the third week of REDCAT's New Original Works Festival. Known for crafting sweeping dramatic narratives with contemporary echoes of 19th-century serial fiction, Woodury now unveils a 40-minute ¬¬¬episode from her forthcoming six-part solo play, which originated as a web-cast soap opera publicly developed last year in numerous Los Angeles venues.

Distilled into six evening-length parts with the help of Miami-based director Michael Yawney, Woodbury's hilarious new epic explores what it is like to survive today in America, on a planet edging toward climate crisis. As the Globe Warms fearlessly tackles the social complexities of climate crisis with humor while generating unexpected empathies: between rural and urban populations, atheists and devout Christians, the "world wide web" and world wide web of life.
