“The Making of Morrie’s” offers behind-the-scenes look at restaurant remake

Morrie’s Steakhouse is about to go from a dream to a dining destination, and you’re invited to come along.

“The Making of Morrie’s” will trace the transformation of Foleys Fish, Chop and Steakhouse into Morrie’s Steakhouse.

The restaurant at 2507 S. Shirley Ave. was acquired by Sioux Falls restaurant group Vanguard Hospitality in the spring of 2016.

“It was a beautiful place. The bones were great. A classic, Chicago-style steakhouse,” Vanguard CEO Ken Bashore says. “We just love the building."

After getting to know the restaurant “and visiting with guests, it just made sense to make it a steakhouse and define it as that,” chief operating officer Tim Meagher adds.

Foleys will close at the end of the year and reopen as Morrie’s by mid-January.
