This song was probably 'stolen' by the English, or possibly misheard and circulated in 1825/26 as 'Allan Tyne of Harrow'. I suspect the Irish version was first because it appears in an 1802 list of publications as 'Adventures of Valentine O'Hara'. Long mudcat thread here:
