This FREE script for Ableton Live - which requires Max for Live - turns your Ableton Push 2 / Push 1 or Novation Launchpad Pro / Launchpad MK2 into an XpressPads Finger Drumming machine in seconds!!

Even better, it's not just a script that can be used for finger drumming... You can create your own custom midi mappings as well, load them into the script, and give them custom names that will appear in the drop down menu. How this works I will explain in an additional video which I will record and publish shortly.

The original MIDI note converter script was developed by Andreas Müller, an XpressPads finger drummer who also spent some time with the XpressPads Magic Tone Network. Go to the XpressPads website and check-out the completely FREE, TWO-HOURS VIDEO TUTORIAL which will make you understand AND PLAY music on pads in an absolutely logical way!

I cannot stress enough how greatful I am that Andreas Müller has written this script, because it opens up the door to XpressPads finger drumming for all users of Ableton Push 2 / 1 and Novation Launchpad Pro / MK2. Never before has it been easier to start XpressPads finger drumming with those devices.

Just download the script from the XpressPads website:

Load it into a midi track, assign it to the "midi-in" slot of a virtual drum kit track that responds to the "General Midi" drum note standard, choose your controller, e.g. Push 2 / 1, or Launchpad Pro / MK2, choose your desired XpressPads finger drumming layout, and... GET STARTED!!

If you find this script as helpful and time-saving as I do, please say thank you to Andreas Müller. You'll find his email address right in the script itself when you open it in edit mode.

Stay tuned,

Hi Andreas, hope you are well. I was wondering what you prefer the full size pads, or the ones on Push 2?

Might be doing something stupid but I can't get this to register notes from Push 2 in User mode.

hi. I downloaded the script and I get an error device not available in this version of live when I drag the script into a midi spot. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to have a full blown version of live? Thank You.

I'm trying to get a grip on the "General MIDI" general drum note standard. I've read several information on it from your good website (thank you very much for that). I have several Drum Racks from Live Packs that came with Live Suite 9; unlike the VST you are using (Addictive Drums by XLN Audio???), there is no way that I know of on how to set generic Drum Rack presets of Live 9 and make them respond to the "GM" drum note standard (similar to how the Abbey Road drum systems of Native Instruments works). Now, is there a tutorial somewhere where I can edit these generic Drum Rack presets of Live 9 (rearrange the Samplers/Simplers' relative position on the 4x4 drum grid) - and make these Drum Racks instantly recognized by this custom Live Note Conversion Script? So that I can play them according to your XpressPads Finger Drumming Layout? Thanks.
