There is a story of a man in Formosa(Taiwan) - who went to spend some of his retirement years in retreat at a famous monastery and to study under a respected Chan(zen) teacher. He worked diligently and experienced some fine feelings of inspiration and a degree of awakening but nothing that could be described as complete enlightenment or "Satori". In the end the time came for him to leave and the abbot, by now his friend as well as his teacher, came to the gate to bid him farewell. Touching him lightly on the shoulder the Chan master bad the pupil farewell and said softly "Look after yourself." with which the seeker became a finder - and he walked home with a spring in his step, understanding all that was needed for the day.

Update - 3days later - having been up to the city bearing one of my old lenses.
Well I got a new camera - something very simple - just an upgrade Nikon "point and shoot" Coolpix S3100. I've arranged to sell my old one - the new has a 26mm equivalent wide angle - 14.1 megapixels and lets me control important things, like ISO sensitivity and the autofocus functioning. Photo of the day - The Eiffel bridge in Porto - much photographed - but I've not seen this angle before.
I made two pledges before going into the "Corte Inges" department store.
#1 I would not do that thing where you handle the product in the store then send away for it.
#2 I would state my needs as I saw them and then allow myself to be led by the expert.
I told the woman in the department how I wanted a camera to fit my lenses and why this was. She showed me cameras that would do just that as they had the special connecting ring - but they started at 1,500€. But she could show me a little camera just a bit better than my then current little one that was on very good offer - dropped to less than half price - only a little more than I paid for mine and including a little tripod that would otherwise cost me 20€. So, seeing as I'd already had a good offer for my old one from a friend - I went for it and am well pleased. No need to sell T shirts - which is good as the first efforts needed improvement.
Note well my two rules.
