I have had good results winning favorable decisions for my Atlanta area disability clients who are pursuing Social Security disability based on Type I diabetes.
Because Type I diabetes mellitus is often diagnosed early in life, many of my clients have been dealing with this medical condition for years. Even with diligent effort, many Type I diabetics face medical problems associated with the cumulative effect of unstable blood sugar control
As I discuss in this video, SSD judges often look for medical records that document unstable swings in your blood sugar levels, indicating that your diabetes is not under control. Further, I find that if your medical record indicates that you have multiple episodes per week of extremely low blood sugar, judges will often conclude that you would not be reliable in a work setting, and especially not in work settings requiring duties at unprotected heights or around hazardous equipment.
Further, if your medical record shows permanent impairment due to neuropathy, retinopathy or organ damage, we can make a compelling argument that you would likely need excessive unscheduled breaks or that you would miss several days of work per month and this not meet the reliability requirements of competitive employment.
If you have been diagnosed with Type I diabetes (sometimes called “juvenile diabetes”) and you are unable to work full time, please let me know if I can assist you in pursuing a Social Security disability claim. #typeIdiabetes #diabetesandsocialsecuritydisability #ssdi #diabetesmellitusandsocialsecuritydisability #atlantasocialsecuritydisability #disabilitybenefitsatlanta
