About 10 months ago I recorded this track for you as a way to say, "thank you". My intention was to share this track in May.
Yesterday changed that. The word genius gets thrown around a lot. A word that sounds like an exclusive club that only a few get tickets to. I prefer the word of light. Prince's music and presence were pure light. We all have the potential to be light and serve each other through variations in intensity and spectra. Prince found ways to use all the spectrums, pinpointing like a laser when he wanted and casting it wide for all ships lost at sea.
I've been performing this song for a number of years and this morning we rushed the final mix out to you. I hope you can put on real headphones, turn up really loud and stand up while you listen.
In an age of division Prince, like Bowie, was a unifier. I have yet to find someone who couldn't get into a Prince track, performance or point of view. In our present moment, the grief carries a heavier weight but there is no darkness in his wake, only light.
The light on this recording hails from Prince and is reflected by Dave Brophy, Kimon Kirk, Nephtaliem McCrary, Matt Pynn, Pat DiCenso & Matt Tahaney. Special thank you to the bright light of Tom Polce for getting this mixed so quickly yesterday.
Onward & onward again.
