What happened at Benghazi? And can a man once assigned to protecting diplomats get to the answer? Fred Burton, a veteran American intelligence officer, and co-author Sam Katz have produced a book described as "the first detailed account of the now infamous Benghazi attack." The book is Under Fire: The Untold Story of the Attack in Benghazi. The attack by heavily armed men occurred on Sept. 11, 2012, at the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya. Burton is Vice President of Intelligence for Austin-based Stratfor Global Intelligence. He spent 14 years as a counter-terrorism agent with the U.S. State Department. Later, as deputy chief of counter-terrorism at the Diplomatic Security Services, he was in charge of preventing attacks against diplomatic personnel and facilities and, when they occurred, investigating them.
