This is a story of origins. The dawning of the universe. The first breaths of oxygen on Earth. The first footprints of humankind. Take a journey with the University of Wisconsin–Madison to South Africa, home to the Southern African Large Telescope, the Cradle of Humankind and rock formations touched by evidence of early life on Earth dating back billions of years. It is here that UW–Madison scientists, students and their collaborators are helping to unlock the secrets of the origins of life as we know it. In July 2017, a UW–Madison videographer, photographer and science writer traveled to South Africa to help tell their stories. Here is a sneak peek of what’s to come in early 2018.
