The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet, an acoustic string band from the U.S., introduced "Gypsy Jazz" (Jazz Manouche) music to the audiences of Kaliningrad and Vologda region. Originally Gypsy Jazz was a European version of the American jazz, combining such genres as jazz, the traditional ethnic Gypsy music "Manouche" and swing. Gonzalo Bergara added to the style the melodies of North and South America. The musicians' tour was organized with the support of the U.S. Consulate General in St. Petersburg.

The First Russian Bluegrass Festival took place in Vologda, Russia. Dr. and Nurse Banjo from Colorado led the American bluegrass group, along with fiddler Justin Hoffenberg. St. Petersburg's Fine Street and Cheerful Diligence from Obninsk performed as well. This festival was sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in St. Petersburg.
