The loneliest whale.
Somewhere in the ocean swims a real creature called the Loneliest Whale. This unique whale sings at 52 Hertz, a frequency that no other whale can hear. So this whale swims the vast oceans of the world unheard and unanswered, which is why people have named it the Loneliest Whale.
It was first detected in 1989 and since then its call and the story of this unique creature has captured the world’s imagination. From Facebook groups and songs dedicated to the whale, to scientists and documentary makers mounting expeditions to find, something about this whale has transfixed people everywhere.
It’s probably because this story of one whale swimming the oceans alone, searching for an answer and never losing hope, says so much about the human need to communicate that is in all of us. At Three, we understand that communication matters. That’s why we’re building the network as it should be.
