We caught up with Marc Schettke, the head developer on the new RME M-32 AD Pro and M-32 DA Pro high-end multi channel converters.
As well as the exceptional sound quality, the RME M-32 Pro converters offer a number of features that are perfect for studio, live, broadcast, archive, spatial 3D or immersive audio and industrial applications.
The RME M-32 Pro series feature 32 analogue I/O on 25-pin D-subs and 2 x MADI I/O via separate optical SC and coaxial BNC, giving you up to 128 channels. It also features AVB on an RJ45 giving you 4 streams, with 4, 8 , 12 and 16 channels on each.
As it is a professional converter that will be used on critical live productions, the M-32 Pro series also has 2 x monitored fully redundant internal PSU’s.
Word Clock I/O on BNC is of course onboard, as well as USB 2.0 and optional MIDI I/O for remote control.
Apart from now being a 1U box instead of 2U, one of the most striking and obvious changes to the original M-32 are the 32 large level displays which allow you to see any clipping issues at a glance. This is very useful, especially when sat in a large rack of gear.
As well as the onboard screen, which allows you to access all the settings, RME have also provided the M-32 Pro with a web interface which you can access via a browser.
The RME M-32 AD Pro and M-32 DA Pro will be available in October 2018 from Synthax Audio UK.
