The official video for "No More Sins" from the album "Brother".

The last time I saw my friend Matt before he passed away, he was across the road with a group of people that I didn't know. As with any time I saw Matt, my instinct was to go and say a big cheery hello. I can't explain to you why I didn't. Maybe I was being over complicated about barging into his conversation or something, but anyhow I carried on up the street without him seeing me. I have plenty of gorgeous memories of Matt and his time here with us, but annoyingly this one sits in there with them too... a constant reminder of how fragile life is and how uncertain things can be, but also a massive and well deserved clout round my own head for not just crossing the road and giving him a big fat smiley hug.
"No More Sins" is a confession and a reminder to myself not to let the days, my friends, and the things I love go drifting by without me. No more will I turn my gaze when angels come my way.

British surf champion and old school friend Alan Stokes is a great example of someone living life as wholly and excitingly as possible. Captured on his dream-like world travels by the brilliant film maker Tim Davies, the juxtaposition between that world and my windowless studio hopefully makes the point of the song clear.

  • Songs from the Shed Play

Due to the overwhelming requests for songs at gigs that I can't seem to - a) remember to do, and b) have time, I thought I would try and post some songs live from my shed.

  • What I'm Listening To Play

Here's a collection of some songs I'm really liking at the moment.

The Acorn - Crooked Legs: Loving this band The Acorn from Canada. Whole album is great but this is a real gem.

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues: Still some of my favourite lyrics of recent times for sure. "If I know only one thing it's that everything that I see of the world outside is so inconceivable, often I barely can breathe."

Rodriguez - Street Boy: Finally got to see this absolute legend at Glastonbury this year. Very humbling.

Arcade Fire - Ready to Start: Foot to the floor for this one...

Rickie Lee Jones - The Moon Is Made Of Gold: Such a sweet song, written by Rickie Lee Jones' dad performed beautifully on Jools a few years back.

Tom Waits - A Good Man Is Hard To Find: The greatest, laziest trumpet solo in the world...and of course no playlist is complete without at least one Tom Waits song.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Child: Chilled as it gets.
