Your Hair Is a Plant® | Cultural Trichology

Welcome to Your Hair Is a Plant® - a Cultural Trichology™ channel exploring hair and scalp science through a cultural lens.

I’m Salem Wynter, a cosmetic scientist, hair educator, Root2Tip founder and trichology student.

I examine how hair texture, skin tone, cultural practices and gaps in scientific representation can affect the way hair and scalp concerns are understood.

Too much hair and scalp education has treated lighter skin and straighter hair as the default.

Here, we centre Afro-textured, curly and coily hair while making the science clear and practical for everyone.

Your scalp is the soil. Your follicles are the roots. Your hair is the crop-and you are its farmer.
