We got inspired looking through some of the hundreds of Polaroids that Andy Warhol shot during his life. (Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Andy Warhol Polaroids, 1958-1987 published by Taschen this past September). What really got us was how not precious the pictures are. There are flaws and imperfections
and humanity. They’re still so amazing and fresh even 30 years after the fact because they rely on character to draw you in.
So we thought why not do an R+Co shoot using Polaroids and capture the essence of our models’ characters. Howard, Garren, and Thom kept things simple using the models own clothes where they could, and played up personal style first and foremost.
