Almost 6 years ago, I walked into The Astor Room (now George's named in honor of George Kaufman who revitalized the studios) in the legendary Kaufman Astoria Studios. Kaufman was built in 1920. It was the original home to Paramount Pictures, one of the 1st movie studios in all of North America and The Astor Room was originally the commissary where the silent film stars used to dine. The manager that evening told me some ghost stories he heard from his morning porter. Apparently, a number of the silent film stars had not yet left the building and they wanted to be seen. That night as soon as I got home, I wrote, "The Three Divas", inspired by the ghosts of Gloria Swanson, Betty Bronson and Sylvia Sydney. For 8 years, I dreamed of getting a music video & commercial made and I am so grateful to Hal Rosenbluth, Kaufman Astoria Studios, John Nikach and all those who made it happen. (check their names out in the end credits of this video!) Beginning July 7th, you can hear me there every Friday night at The Astor Room from 6:30-10:30pm www.astorroom.com If you enjoy this, please share!
