i needed a new header video for my channel that was realistic and straight and true to the person underneath clawing his way back up to be digital confident again after losing his steam-punk forward motion. i've been wanting to record the audio for a while. i finally got around to one taking it. everything on a edit economy for now folks.
my daughter bella (8) is addicted to watching videos of minecraft and while i enjoy watching them with her i felt that we were missing out on some serious daddy and daughter time where we could be productive and share our own creativity and flair. So, we came up with the land of BeeMine Delta!
BeeMine Delta is based on an actual farm and caravan park in the small village of rosilton in the midlands part of england. The farm is near to a reallife botany bay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botany_Bay,_Derbyshire) Ordnance Survey have calculated that a point near Botany Bay, at Coton in the Elms, is the furthest point from the english coastline so you know we have solid ground foundations. i wonder if we dig deep here what we might find?
The Farm is a very extensive site spread over 66 acres of land and our show will be a twenty minute show around all the areas that we build. I have my daughter most weekends and we can afford the time to make a video each week (maybe with other shows in between if i'm working on it alone) it's probably going to take us a good year to eighteen months to complete the farm site at the right scale (any tips to get scale right?) as we have lots of parts to build.
We hope to have a local minecraft server running across the real life site so kids who are camping at the weekend can connect and help us build or explore the many games and activities we will build in the digital universe emulating the real farm (http://beehive.farm) -- it's going to be a lot of fun and will tie everything we are trying to do here.
Our show will feature sustainability, offgrid, bushcraft and knowledge about environmental issues with what i hope with me interviews with digital rangers discussing the site with us and telling us new information that can help us make more informed decisions about the environment in a playful manner! :)
