What is Penn State’s Thon? Check out this video for an explanation. Thon is the world’s largest student-run philanthropy, with over 16,500 students helping in the fight against childhood cancer. Thon has donated more than $136million to, Four Diamonds at Penn State Children’s Hospital, funding comprehensive care and critical research. Every year a fundraising and awareness campaign raises money for the 46-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon that takes place in the Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. Each year PSU student volunteers dedicate 5,000,000+ hrs. to Thon donated more than $136 million to fighting childhood cancer since it’s founding in 1973. The event begins Friday evening February 17, and continues through Sunday February 19.
