1927 was Canada's Diamond Jubilee. On July the 1st, many hundreds of communities across Canada called their Old Boys and Girls home. The homecoming Reunion, often simply called 'The Old Boys Reunion,' resulted in hundreds of native Caledonian's returning home for the Dominion Day Celebrations.
This video shows the Old Boys Reunion in Caledonia, plus the 1927 edition of the Caledonia Fair.
There had previously been an Old Boys Reunion in Caledonia in 1902. Over 11,000 attended in 1902, most coming in by special train. The crowd truly made our then much smalled community 'crowded.'
The 1927 Reunion video is located at Edinburgh Square, Heritage and Cultural Centre.
The video was converted to digital format in 2015 to celebrate the 2015 Caledonia Fair which celebrates the theme 'Homecoming' in 2015.
The video was converted as part of the Caledonia Archive Project.
