Stop-Motion was created by resident choreographers León & Lightfoot for the NDT 1 repertoire. The ballet premiered on January 29, 2014 in Programme III. On melancholic music by Max Richter seven dancers depict a process of farewell and transformation. This is reinforced by massive screens that show delayed video projections, which include their daughter Saura.
For the first time in fifteen years, Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) will return to the Berlin stage! In an elaborate performance the NDT 1 dancers will showcase four ballets in Berliner Festspiele: Stop-Motion and Shoot the Moon by their house choreographers Sol León (ES) and Paul Lightfoot (UK), Thin Skin by associate choreographers Marco Goecke (DE), and Solo Echo by associate choreographers Crystal Pite (CA). From its home base in The Hague, Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) makes contemporary dance which every year ten of thousands of people from all over the world come to enjoy. The company is led by artistic director Paul Lightfoot and managing director Janine Dijkmeijer and consists of two groups: NDT 1 and NDT 2. Together good for 160 performances a year at home and abroad. Thanks to NDT's quality, the dance company has been one of the most imporatant figureheads of Dutch art abroad for years.
