The conference was co-hosted by North Carolina New Schools, the NC Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Center and the Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM (TIES). During the conference, NC Governor Pat McCrory and GSK U.S. Pharmaceuticals President Jack Bailey announced a $1 million investment to launch STEMAccelerator with NC New Schools President Tony Habit. Keynote speakers included Justin Richards from YouthDigital, Stephen Ritz from the Green Bronx Machine and Vance Kite from City of Medicine Academy. Students also presented projects during the Innovation Challenge.
