This year marks the 45th skating season on the Rideau Canal. The National Capital Commission (NCC) manages and maintains the Rideau Canal Skateway, the largest natural skating rink in the world, and a Canadian icon. The Rideau Canal is owned by Parks Canada and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 7.8-kilometre-long Rideau Canal Skateway winds through the heart of Canada’s Capital. Each winter brings some 800,000 visits.
