The music video for ‘Wake Up Call’ (from PlanB’s 2018 live release UK2UB) captures the energetic on-stage (and occasionally off-stage) antics of Australia’s wandering minstrels of mirth, mayhem and music as they trek through the UK on the bones of their collective arses, bringing the good time sounds of the band to both old and new converts. Always entertaining, PlanB has travelled the width and breadth of the British Isles performing its own brass driven signature blend of rock, pop and soul.
Nearly thirty years after it’s initial formation in the late 80’s PlanB tours annually through Asia playing it’s unique style of brass heavy classic rock to punters eager to hear original music from Australia. The time spent in Asia has changed the band, with many of the tracks penned by the band’s songwriter Peter Flierl reflecting experiences gathered while working and travelling through Vietnam, China and Thailand.
The first track on the album Southern Delta is “about my recollections of the Mekong Delta woven into a sort of very brief storyline of a young guy who leaves the delta region but returns because its really the only place he knows and feels comfortable in" says Peter. The third track Maggies tells a story of a night in an infamous bar in Beijing, Three Steps Closer a trek through Inner Mongolia.
While Asia has somewhat influenced PlanB’s music, it dominates the band’s music videos where the overwhelming majority have been shot. Of the 14 songs on the album 14 have music videos on the band’s youtube channel (morebrassthanclass) five of which were shot in China (Images, Give It Away, Blueprint, Sandpaper Sally & Plan B), three of which were shot in Vietnam (So Saigon, Southern Delta & Call Me) and Cambodia (Falling In Love). The band plans to tour Thailand early 2014 where three music videos were produced.
