On the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Mike Barnicle and Tom Brokaw share their thoughts on the impact of the Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II. “Imagination cannot begin to get you to the point where you would open your eyes in the morning of 6 June 1944 and see 6,000 ships out on that horizon. Men getting into Higgins boats for, basically, a mile-long run onto a beach where there was a fusillade, a deafening roar of gunfire, from every post that you can think of, up here where the Germans held sway,” says Mike of the historic event.
