Feeling like you're losing touch with reality? Tired of the same routine? WAKE UP
*Warning, contains powerful scenes
This film was shot 7 years ago in the winter of 2009, in Montreal. At the time my friends and I had just graduated from theatre school and we were going through a transition time in our lives... We had passion but we were afraid... Afraid to be ourselves without shame. I had written this film in the hopes to WAKE "us" UP. Seven years later, it gives me great pleasure to share this project with all of you in the hopes that it will propel you forward!
Dear viewer: welcome to our little film!
All of us at Red Barlo hope you enjoy watching this personal project as much as we have making it. We thank you for sharing our link and look forward to reading about your experience of the film in the comments.
Michael Mando 03/08/2016
SYNOPSIS: A debt collector (Michael Mando) has a nervous breakdown at work on the anniversary of his wife’s suicide (Amber Goldfarb). He is pulled between reality and a hallucinative journey into his subconscious as he desperately searches for a way to break free from his misery.
A LITTLE MORE…What is the meaning of the images, colors, characters and dialogue that we experience in our dreams and hallucinations? Where do they come from? Could they be a way for our subconscious to guide us into making important decisions in our lives?
WAKE UP is a cinematic experience that presents itself in a similar way that the mind shoots out ideas and emotions. The audience, along side our protagonist, are challenged to decode for themselves the meaning of this psychological roller coaster that will hopefully lead Johnny to better understand himself and break free from his misery.
