IID's communications team was handed some dusty boxes from one of the district's storage vaults. Once we opened them and examined the contents, we realized that we were given a couple of treasure chests. Inside were several 16mm movie film reels, with footage that was shot in the 1950s and 60s. Among the footage found was construction of the El Centro steam plant and Pilot Knob, scenery at Imperial Dam and other projects from the Water and Energy departments. Most of the footage was in remarkably good condition. Each reel was about three minutes long, and is currently being transferred digitally so we can share it. It's being brought to you in its original unedited state.
