  • Sotto le Stelle del Jazz, Paolo Conte

    988 views 1 year ago
Premiered in Torino by Moreno Andreatta on 15 dec 2016 at Teatro Colosseo in the presence of Mestro Paolo Conte.

In this piece, Paolo Conte uses a Pattern called "Turn Around", ( in latin languages we say "Anatole") that will translate from G to Bb for the Chorus.
The spider web symbolizes the tonal center,
We illustrate basic harmonic movements : falling fifths and relative relation.
The Tonnetz has been invented by Euler, modified by Riemann, Douthett & Steinbach, Baroin & Seress.

The Planet-4D ideographic System, based on graph theory has been developed in my PhD.

Visit Planetes.info to see the scientific background, and Mathemusic4D.net to learn the 4D system, step by step.*

The main movie shows some chosen geometrical models representing the 12 tone equal tempered system that are either re-colorized, reconstructed in 3D, or self-created from scratch in 3D or 4D during my PhD. The examples are ordered by geometrical complexity. We start with the simplest circle and end up with a true 4D model that resides on a hypersphere. The pedagogic purpose of this visualization is not to list or prefer any particular existing model but to illustrate the ones newly created. We will progressively familiarize the spectator to the concepts of hyper-symmetry and four dimensional spaces.

All material, sounds, animations and images are original designed except for:

  • Episode II (2013) : From Circle to Hypersphere : Spectra, 4D Tonnetze, Odd Symetries Play all

From Circle to Hypersphere : Episode Two

The Saga contents now two episodes
The first one was premiered in Paris Ircam Centre Pompidou , June 2011 : Chapters 01 to 09
This Second one was premiered in Montreal, McGill University , June 2013 : Chapters 10 to 15

We now present the latest designed models in the Planet-4D system:
    - The first application illustrates some isometries in the Tonnetz that have been discovered by G. Mazzola and formalized in the 4D space by Emmanuel.Amiot and Guillaume Baxias. Thanks to the 4D Hyperspheres, they are now easily understandable visually. We will present theses transformations as well as some musical applications in the Planet-4D Model.
    - The second development, Hypersphere of Tonnetze, is a graphical illustration of the work initiated by Louis Bigo : we managed to project and represent the generalized Tonnetze T1 to T6 on the surface of the 4D Hypersphere. The purpose of this study is to show and use the most adapted Tonnetze to a specific piece of music.
-The last sphere, called Hypersphere of Spectra (developed by Gilles Baroin and Stéphane de Gérando), is an original way to display any sound according to its spectra, within a 4D environment.
