Marina Magalhães is a seasoned performer and award-winning choreographer from Brazil, based in Los Angeles.
This 5 min Dance Reel highlights 4 of her most recent projects:
1) "(UN)BRIDALED", a critically acclaimed evening-length dance theater experience created and performed by Magalhães and the cast. This work brings to life the stories of women- immigrants, brides and immigrant brides- on the precipice of change.
2) "Limbs", a spoken and danced solo choreographed by Maria Bauman for Magalhães that explores the philosophical questions of beauty and history surrounding large scale, majestic trees.
3) "Chrysalis", an evening-length dance work created and performed by Soul Lab Dance Project, an all-female dance collective that Magalhães co-founded.
4) CONTRA-TIEMPO Urban Latin Dance Theater excerpts, featuring the many pieces and tours Magalhães participated in as a long-time company member and Assistant Artistic Director.
In addition, the reel features several other of Magalhães's credits, including "Patty! The Revival" (which earned her the LA Weekly Theater Award for Best Choreography) and Watsky's music video "Moral of the Story" (5 million + YouTube views).
