PAYING IT FORWARD: Mangojamz' Philosophy and Usage Policy
I have had offers from users to buy tracks. At this point in my life, I would rather not sell them. Instead, definitely feel free to use them for noncommercial purposes, and if you do use them commercially, here is what I don't want. Please don't just download, and sell the tracks. Trust me. You would only make a few pennies, anyway. You can, however, do the following: Play the compositions in a band, use them in a recording, etc, and if you make some money with them (a couple thousand USD), then just make a donation of what you think is appropriate to a charity for kids. However, if one of these tracks somehow (miraculously) ended up as part of a blockbuster movie or a platinum album, for example, then we would need to sign a contract for my royalties: 20% gross.
Most importantly, the compensation I definitely do want is for younger artists to make a commitment to “Pay it Forward.” I was very fortunate coming up to have older musicians in my life take the time to help me get started. Sometimes it was money and equipment, but usually it was just time and advice. All they wanted was for me to do the same thing when I was older. Please do the same. “Pay it forward.” You will know when the time is right. It doesn't have to be money, and it doesn't have to be related to music. You can just devote time to offer guidance, support and help someone(s) from next generation chase his or her dreams.
These tracks are part of my Paying it Forward. If they help guitarists develop skills, enhance a love of music and help sharpen a musical vision in even the smallest way, then they are a success.
Thanks for listening,
