I'm going to try to make this short and sweet but bear with me. For most of you that have followed me for a while you probably noticed that I went on a bit of a hiatus. The last few years have been difficult for me musically. During those past few years I've been struggling with a mysterious vocal issue that is related to some kind of reflux. I got tired of going to doctors who couldn't figure out what was wrong or just gave me a new pill to try and I decided a while ago that if I could just get through my everyday life without much pain or speaking discomfort with my voice, then that would have to be good enough. I let go of my music because frankly it was just too frustrating to not be able to sing like I once could and every time that I played or tried again, it was a reminder of what I used to be able to do that I now could not.
Fast forward to today. Not a lot has changed and I have what I call decent vocal days and then I have bad vocal days. There's no rhyme or reason to it and believe me, I have taken notes to try to solve the puzzle but so far it hasn't happen. What has changed is that a couple weeks ago I put up a new cover song video and tried to renew my outlook on my music. Although at this point I probably will never be able to have a traditional music career and play shows etc like I once did, I decided to get back into recording and making videos to share with all of you. You probably don't hear a change in my voice. I don't much either but the feeling of singing is different and not as comfortable as it once was. But I haven't given up.
So this brings us to this new original song. I started writing it about a year ago and just recently finished it. Along with my music hiatus was a break from songwriting as well. This song just fell in my lap. It has a lot of meaning to me and I hope it will for you too. As I listened to it a final time before uploading the video I got a little misty eyed thinking about this whole journey of life we are all on. Sometimes I forget how important it is to share the gifts that we've been given. And that's what music, songwriting, and playing/singing has always been for me: a gift. I thank you for taking a listen and hope you will share it with others if you enjoy. Thank you!
