"There's a time for change, and a time to trust home is anywhere there is love."
I hope you will enjoy my upcoming release October 14, 2019. This song means so much to me. The lyrics are a flashback of moments that are etched into my heart, tangible instances that can't be brought back but I will never forget.
It is an inspirational piano pop duet, that I sing with singer/songwriter Paul Otten. I wrote this song in 2018 after my husband, 4 kids, and I moved from Tracy, CA where our four children were born and (partially) raised, to Washington state. My husband and I had lived in California our entire lives. It was so weird to get a license in a different state. Some of you are laughing, I know! But it was a big freaking deal for us!
The home I'm singing about with the willow tree, well, you might have been there if you know us. We had church baptisms in our spa, worship and music events in the yard, music recitals followed by caroling through the neighborhood, Cub Scouts every week. Then there were the birthday parties, family gatherings, and home groups. I learned how to make home videos in that house.
I was so excited to see the family who bought the home had their wedding under the willow tree! Their kids are younger and playing like mine used to in that awesome backyard. We made some beautiful memories there.
Now we are making new memories in our new place. But I ache inside at times because I miss the people who were in our lives and the memories we shared together in Tracy. Life has changed, kids are growing up, and even if we stayed in that house, those moments flew by and we have to look back at them.
But let's not stay in that sorrowful state! Let's move forward and embrace the moments we are living in RIGHT NOW! Yes? Can I get an "amen"?
If you were in those memories with us, we love you! This song is for you! We are so thankful you have been a part of our lives and our hearts in some way, however big or small...and it is for anyone else who it is speaking to, maybe you are graduating high school and heading off to college. Maybe you have to sell a house where you have made amazing memories.
I think it is a song so many of us can relate to. I hope it will make it on your playlists.
