On January 22, 2013, Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer announces two new programs aimed at helping military veterans and military veteran-farmers. The two programs are Kentucky Proud Jobs for Vets and Homegrown By Heroes. The goal of Kentucky Proud Jobs For Vets is to match military veterans needing jobs with Kentucky Proud farmers needing good workers. Homegrown By Heroes, on the other hand, is a marketing/branding program established to provide farmers who have served in the military a distinctive label they can use on their grown or raised agriculture products at the point of sale.
On February 11, 2015 the Kentucky Proud™ Team at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture invited over 40 members to pitch their Kentucky Proud™ product to three of the biggest local distributors in Kentucky. Each member had eight minutes to answer questions about the cost, quality and the identity of their product. Modeled after ABC's Shark Tank, the Kentucky Proud™ Fish Tank allows members to receive industry feedback on whether or not they are ready to take their product and business to the next level.

The Kentucky Proud Incredible Food Show celebrated its fifth year as the event for everyone who loves food, cooking and entertaining. More than 100 exhibitors were featured including specialty food companies, caterers, restaurants, kitchen accessories and appliance distributors.
The Marketplace is the crowd favorite and showcased products to sample and purchase. Kentucky Agricultural Commissioner Comer described the atmosphere of the Marketplace nicely when he said "The Kentucky Proud Incredible Food Show is the biggest event of the year for Kentucky food lovers. To have one (two) of the world's most famous chefs and fresh, healthy, delicious Kentucky Proud products all under one roof is something well worth experiencing!"
