This stair fight scene from Atomic Blonde actually won the Taurus Award for "Best Fight Scene". That's like winning an Oscar for stunt people (until the actual Oscars start recognizing us), and I say it's well deserved! The fight Choreography was phenomenal, the performance including the actress Charlize Theron in most of it was outstanding, and the fight design was mind boggling. I watched this fight scene like 10 times on both regular speed and slow motion to understand what was happening, and still found more editing tricks in the filmmaking while I was editing my fight analysis breakdown.
The Atomic Blonde stunt team has my seal of approval and I hope to one day work with them, great work everyone! Also, props to the camera department on a fantastic job of putting us inside of the fight scene without shaking the camera too much like in the Bourne Identity movies. That's a definite sign off experience.
And we can't forget the fight scene editing team! I was very impressed with the techniques they used to hide the cuts, and only noticed half of them on first glimpse.. which was still more than the majority of people.
I love this fight scene from Atomic Blonde! Now I feel like I should go watch the movie.. lmk what you guys think, and what I should break down next! Maybe the bar fight scene, or the church fight scene from Kingsman?
