Closer to home in Houston, there is a team of communicators that are tasked with bringing the work on the International Space Center to life for the general public. This month, we welcome Mark Garcia, who will share how the team works together to bring space to life for fans across the globe, the challenges they face and how they maximize organic reach.
The International Space Station is the largest artificial body in orbit around earth and can be seen with the naked eye. It has been an inspiration to thousands of sky and space watchers and provides a platform to conduct scientific research in space. It is a joint project between NASA, Roscosmos, JAXA, ESA, and CSA. It also has a full-scale online footprint and social media program, including a dedicated website, a blog, a Facebook page and a Twitter page.

Mark Garcia started working for NASA in May 1999 as web designer for Johnson Space Center Public Affairs Office. He quickly moved to providing live space shuttle/space station mission coverage on the web and from there transitioned to social media coverage.
