The video featuring Jared Blake’s new single “Don’t Let Her Be Gone”, which tells a story based on real-life events, has a very deep and personal meaning for Jared. As he was driving with his wife, Jenn, who is seen opposite Jared in the video, a drunk driver struck them head-on. Watching as she was taken away in an ambulance, and then later as doctors and medical staff were monitoring him in his own hospital bed, Jared couldn’t help but feel concerned – he wondered with dread whether he would ever see his wife again. “Don’t Let Her Be Gone” played over and over in his mind as he awaited word on Jenn’s health. Both miraculously survived, and after months of recovery and physical therapy, they decided to turn this near tragedy into something positive by using the experience to share a powerful message, illustrating the dangers of driving under the influence.
Having overcome his own battle with substance abuse, Jared has dedicated much of his time and energy to fighting substance abuse and offering hope to others, especially teens and young adult. When he’s not in the studio or on tour, he can often be found visiting schools and addiction recovery centers to give private performances and share his personal experience. The accident that could have taken his wife or even his own life away from him has only helped strengthen his resolve in being an outspoken advocate for recovery from addiction.
Though the message of Jared Blake’s “Don’t Let Her Be Gone” video is a simple one – Don’t Drink And Drive - it carries a lot of weight. If you or someone you care about is struggling with addiction, there is hope. Call 1-844-812-HOPE today.
