Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness - Considered the cornerstone of the convention, the Saturday Evening Main Session is not to be missed. Prominent, sought after scholars, will address the theme of the convention at large. The session is both relevant and meaningful to Islam in North America.
The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) facilitated a meeting with John Brennan, Assistant to the President on National Security for homeland security and counter terrorism. The meeting was intended to start a dialogue between Government officials and Muslim American leaders to explore issues of national security, including the important role the Muslim American community plays to thwart security threats and improve the deteriorating relationships with Muslim countries. The meeting, organized by the White House under the title A Dialogue on Our Nations Security, was co-sponsored by the Islamic Center at New York University, the Islamic Law Students Association at NYU, and the White House Office of Public Engagement.
Faiths committed to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness - Americas journey toward mutual respect for different faiths, races and ethnicities has been a joint struggle of the faithful. People of different faiths will have to struggle to guarantee peace and security for all, freedom to practice our faiths freely, and to develop our communities and institutions. Interfaith alliances have the potential to mobilize our nation towards constructive ways to achieve the common good.
