IIN was founded in 1992 by Joshua Rosenthal in New York. What was once a gathering of 20 students has emerged into a school with 100,000 students and graduates in over 150 countries, making IIN the world's largest online nutrition school!
The driving force behind IIN is its mission to play a crucial role in improving health and happiness, and through that process, create a ripple effect that transforms the world. IIN is committed to supporting its students, graduates, and the greater community to push initiatives that promote health and wellness.
The holistic nutrition curriculum consists of over 100 dietary theories, and includes topics such as bio individuality and primary food, two unique nutrition concepts coined by Joshua Rosenthal. The program is adapted to include the resources and materials needed to help students reach their goals and become fully equipped in the field of health coaching, including comprehensive business and marketing training, coaching techniques, and self-improvement philosophies. IIN students receive their own iPad where they can access all the course lectures and materials in the IIN Learning Center throughout the program, providing the flexibility and convenience that makes this distance learning program so unique.
2017 guest speakers at IIN included, Dr. Joan Borysenko, Dr. Leslie James, Elizabeth Dialto, Manisha Thakor, Soul Camp, Dr. Andrew Weil, Dave Buck, Melissa Binkley, Dr. Susie Gronski, and Christa Orecchio.
IIN has been licensed by the New York State Department of Education since 2009 and is recognized by the National College Recommendation Service.
IIN also provides its students with opportunities for continuing education and training. Through its educational partnerships with colleges and universities, IIN graduates can earn continuing education units (CEU) or college credits towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree. IIN partnerships include International Health Coach University, SUNY Purchase, Maryland University of Integrative Health, Goddard College, Saybrook University, California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and Excelsior College. Under the direction of Joshua Rosenthal, IIN has also developed two additional courses: IIN Advanced Business and Launch Your Dream Book.
IIN alumni are some of the most successful professionals in the field of holistic nutrition, and their career outlook is high. Graduates are taught to understand the various health-related issues clients may face and are trained to counsel clients by educating, supporting, and empowering them to make sustainable lifestyle changes and achieve personal wellness goals through tailored holistic solutions – they don’t just provide clients with another diet regime. Alumni have gone on to launch their own health coaching practices, wellness centers, product lines, books, TV shows, and restaurants, and have been featured in everything from Oprah magazine to The New York Times to Martha Stewart’s Whole Living to the movie "Supersize Me."
