Follow My Score! Commissioning Project
The team behind the YouTube channels Score Follower & Incipitsify has partnered with the amazing Ensemble Dal Niente to award a $700+ commission to one composer. In addition to the commission, the winning composer will receive a professional-quality recording of their new work performed by Ensemble Dal Niente. Finally, we will feature this new work by making a recording+score video, and promoting it through various online platforms.
The composer will be selected by a three-round jury.
Round 1, Our team will select a short list of 10 composers
Round 2, An international jury will select two or three finalists; the finalists' works will be made into recording+score videos and uploaded to the YouTube channel, Incipitsify.
Round 3, The people of the internet will determine the winner through a week-long ‘Likes War Campaign’ on YouTube.
The international jury will be comprised of the following esteemed composers and performers.
• Pierluigi Billone
• Ashley Fure
• Evan Johnson
• Klaus Lang
• Heather Roche
• Dmitri Kourliandsky
• Marcos Balter

We have already made a significant impact on the way new music is presented in the 21st century. Hundreds of music professors around the world use our videos in the classroom, and for many young composers, it is a rite of passage to be featured on our channels.
We also know that because of what is available on our channels, ensembles have become more familiar with the works of lesser known composers, leading to an increased variety in terms of concert programming. Undergraduate composers at institutions such as Oberlin and Harvard have testified to having been inspired to pursue the field of composition largely because of the new music world that our videos illuminate. Thus, our efforts have brought new music to life in an indirect way. We want to do more than simply document pre-existing works, however, by directly facilitating the creation of a new work.
We have successfully used the internet as our primary medium in providing you with free new music, and we seek to make every component of this current project Web 2.0 compatible. Not only are we crowd funding the commission and crowd sourcing the winning composer, but we want composers to write music optimized for the internet—a medium indeed comprised of musicians, campaign backers, and video likers/+1-ers alike. With us YouTubers, you will help contribute to the cultural shift towards a world in which we can freely access an increasing online library of user-driven content.
The entirety of the money raised will go towards project-specific expenses, such as paying the ensemble ($1,400+), the recording engineer ($300), and the winning composer ($700+). Any additional funds raised over $2,500 may be used to increase the commission fee, and/or fund another Follow My Score! campaign.
