We were less than two months away from having the Phil Campbell Convention. The convention had recently received some national media attention from the Wall Street Journal. Everyone in town was working hard at planning the 100th year anniversary celebration of the incorporation of Phil Campbell, and also helping the Phils coordinate some events for the convention. However those plans would soon be ruined, when on April 27th a disaster struck the town of Phil Campbell, Alabama.
After the disaster, much of the town was in ruins. The Phil Campbells that were planning on coming to the Phil Campbell Convention decided that they were going to do something to help the town. The group came together under the moniker "I'm with Phil" and decided to transform the Phil Campbell Convention into the I'm with Phil tornado relief effort.
The Phil Campbells of the world finally make the pilgrimage to the town that shares their name. This trip was planned as a whimsical adventure, but now it has become something much more meaningful for all involved.
