We swear by all that is sacred to us, by all that is
in full accord with our conscience and convictions that
we will obey the President and the government of
the Czechoslovak Republic and all our commanders
designated by the President and the government. We swear
that we will carry out their orders without protest everywhere
and always, even in danger, without hesitation or defiance, and that
we will not forsake our troops but will willingly sacrifice our lives
to protect our motherland and to retain its
liberty. We swear that we will cherish each
other, will stay together faithfully, will
not abandon one another in danger, but will
defend and combat to the very end as required
by manly honour and our conscience of our
duties as citizens. This we swear!

The oath of the members of the Czechoslovak Army from the First Republic era (1918-1938)
