Heartland Humane Society (HHS) is a Private Non-Profit 501(c)3 organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We are limited admissions and take in animals by appointment when we have appropriate space and resources. HHS was founded in 2006, formerly known as Yankton Area Humane Society. We serve Yankton, Clay and Cedar counties in South Dakota. We provide a safe haven for dogs, cats and small animals that have been abandoned, abused, neglected or are homeless. We give them proper vet care upon arrival, including vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries and health examinations. We also micro-chip our adoptable pets. We then try to find them loving homes.
