Journeys in America

Hi. My name is Haley Hughes and recently I acquired a box of old 8mm films made by my grandfather starting in 1936. My grandfather, Noel Hughes, was an immigrant from Australia who was newly married and starting a family at the time. Up until about 1940 he was unsure if he would be returning to Australia with his new family, so the first videos were edited by him with an eye toward showing them to people back home in Australia. He did end up staying in the Chicago area.

It's been fun having the films digitized and being able to view the world through my grandparents' eyes. I hope you enjoy the videos.
