The Star and the Car is a documentary about Gary Goltz, and how his love of the 50's TV series HIGHWAY PATROL led to restoring a 1955 Buick to the appearance of Broderick Crawford's car used on the classic show.
Along the way, Gary used Crawford's personna combined with a judo discipline to become a successful businessman. Gary's upward mobility landed him in California, where he met the surviving HIGHWAY PATROL cast members and crew. When a '55 Buick came up for sale, Gary bought it and six months later was driving a fully decked out replica of Crawford's car. From there, it was non-stop charity events for the CHP's 11-99 Foundation and other worthy causes...and more than a few celebrity encounters. From the 50's to the 21st century...it's a great ride!
The STAR and the CAR World Premiere screening was held July 29, 2018, at the Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo, California. Hosted by 'Shotgun' Tom Kelly, a behind-the-scenes Q & A was held for 150 attendees. Link to panel discussion: (https://youtu.be/ZmzAMZwNQKc
