Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) is a volunteer-driven non-profit community that values connecting with the land for the many things it teaches us. Since April 2009, GUI has been building up the 21st Century Kampung at former Bottle Tree Park in Yishun, Singapore.

The history of GUI goes back to 2008 in Lim Chu Kang (Singapore) and subsequently, relocated to Bottle Tree Park (Yishun) in Apr 2009. Through its weekly flagship programme, ‘Balik Kampung’, meaning 'Back to the Village' in Malay, tens of thousands of volunteers came and built GUI's first base - the Sustainable Living Kampung.

Beginning Sep 2014, GUI has a bigger Kampung to build as we leased a 26,000 sqm plot of land from the Singapore Government. We need to raise millions to build this campus, the Kampung Kampus and make it into a beautiful space for the community, by the community for many to experience and appreciate the Kampung Spirit. The living classroom nestled among the green space will enable many to rediscover a harmonious balance between the social, economic and ecological aspects of life. This is where we nurture grounded leaders based on GUI's "Thinker ~ Warrior ~ Farmer" philosophy. Most importantly, we aspire to nurture an eco-conscious community to be stewards of a more sustainable and happier future.

Pioneering new ways to cultivate resilient communities.
Making the world a more Gracious, Green, Giving, Grounded and Grateful place to live.
Creating a sustainable future through the 21st Century Kampung Culture.

Support us to build the Kampung Kampus - Singapore's first low carbon footprint 5G village campus.
