This introduction to Gregg Engineering's NextGen Gas Pipeline Simulation application suite demonstrates the latest advances in simulation technology.
NextGen lets you create computer models of natural gas pipelines and run hydraulic simulations to calculate pressures, flow rates, compressor power, fuel consumption, and other operational parameters.
Creating and running simulations is helpful both for designing and operating pipelines and once the pipeline models are built, you can control them in the same manner that you control a real pipeline (set known flows and pressures, open and close valves, turn compressor units on and off, ...).
NextGen supports Steady State modeling (not changing with time), Sequential Steady State (pseudo steady state used for long term analysis of storage field injections/withdrawls and gas well depletions), Transient Predictive (time based simulation), Transient Online (virtual model runs alongside actual pipeline in real time), and Transient Look Ahead Modeling (automated short term transient analysis tied into Online model).
NextGen can be used to model complex gathering, distribution, and transmission natural gas pipeline systems, and hydraulically models all components in a pipeline including pipes, valves, regulators, process plants, storage fields, chillers, compressor stations and detailed compressor units within stations.
The NextGen Pipeline Simulation Suite is built on a client-server architecture and consists of multiple applications communicating with each other (client to server, client to client, and server to server). These applications can all reside on a single machine, or reside on multiple machines and communicate with each other over a local network or the Internet.
NextGen can connect to multiple data sources for importing and exporting data between simulation models and Databases (SQL Server, Oracle, ...), Excel, SCADA systems (via OPC or database), Gregg Engineering's Load Forecaster and Loads Generator, and other Gregg Engineering products.
NextGen is highly customizable and supports multiple built in languages (English, Spanish, Chinese,...) and users can provide their own translations for languages that are not built in.
Gregg Engineering is a U.S. owned company that has been in business for over 26 years, and is a leader in the gas pipeline simulation field. Over 80% of the interstate gas transmission pipelines in the U.S. use Gregg Engineering's simulation products.
